You probably hear a lot about Gen Z, which is the hot, young generation that everyone is getting to know. But, there's already a new generation that's making big waves: Gen Alpha. If you want to communicate well with the youngest generation, you'll want to learn more about them. I'm fascinated by the different generations and have researched all of them thoroughly, so I'm excited to share with you some information about Generation Alpha.

Meet Gen Alpha

Generation Alpha are those born from 2010-2024, according to the experts at McCrindle. Around the world, more than 2.8 million are born each week. Even though they're the youngest generation, McCrindle says that this generation has major brand influence and purchasing power. They're also budding social media influencers.

Gen Alpha Characteristics

"Gen Alpha are the most materially endowed generation ever, the most technologically savvy generation ever and they will enjoy a longer life span than any previous generation," McCrindle states. "They will stay in education longer, start their earning years later and stay at home with their parents later than even their predecessors, Gen Z and Gen Y." McCrindle adds that many of the Gen Alphas will be living at home into their late 20s, so the role of parents, they say, will be even more important than with previous generations.

Gen Alpha, not surprisingly, are also totally plugged into technology. They were brought into this world when technology was already very advanced. That's different from even Gen Zers, who have always had technology, but it wasn't as advanced when they were younger.

"Generation Alpha is projected to be the most tech-savvy and digitally empowered generation in history," Investopedia states. "Their time spent online and in front of screens will likely exceed prior generations." They add that having this generation be so exposed to technology something of a "social experiment" and that we don't yet know the consequences, good or bad, of it.

Gen Alpha will likely also crave validation. "While having online access can expand connections across continents and improve digital education, it may also create a strong need for validation in the Alpha Generation," HerMoney.com explains. "Considering their Millennial parents also had this need, and will probably take every opportunity to encourage and cheer for the unique humans their Alpha babies are.

So, there you have it with some basic traits of Gen Alpha. They're still very young, so these characteristics will develop and evolve over the years, but it's great to have a little view, right now, into the youngest generation.
