When it comes to songwriting, well Chris Stapleton might be one of the best guys for it. He's written for Alan Jackson, Thomas Rhett, Kenny Chesney and so many more including Darius Rucker!

We learned from "Is This A Great Game, Or What?" a podcast hosted by me and my dad, ESPN's Tim Kurkjian, that Rucker in fact asked Chris Stapleton to NOT sample a song written for Rucker's album. Dan Patrick, a long-time sports broadcaster, told us all about it because he is close friends with Rucker!

You can listen to the full episode of our interview with Dan Patrick (in which quite a bit of country music came up) right below.

Chris Stapleton and His Legendary Voice

I mean it's no surprise why Darius Rucker didn't want Chris Stapleton to sing the song he wrote for Rucker because well then, Rucker would never live up to those vocals! Game recognizes game for sure.

Does anyone remember when he came to the station and sang "What Are You Listening To?" Oh my goodness, this live version is simply incredible.

There is no doubt in my mind that this guy, Chris Stapleton, is a once-in-a-lifetime talent so I do not blame Rucker for what he had to say about him! What a legendary performer.
