Billy Ray Cyrus Responds: ‘Praying For My Family’
Billy Ray Cyrus has responded to all the press about his family drama after his son Trace posted an open letter to his father asking him to get help. This all steamed from Cyrus’s botched and confusing Inauguration performance last week (1/20).
Billy Ray posted to Instagram this weekend (1/26), saying in part, “Giving thanks for the California Rain. Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children ā¦ sons and daughtersā¦and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen. “
The post was taken down by Instagram, so Cyrus later posted a link to a Billboard story. He wrote in the caption, “I just read this in Billboard. Too bad Meta took my post down from this past Sunday. Here it is again – All I want is healing for my family. I am so glad to see the message of love is uniting us. Itās time to turn the page. #ThePastDoesNotEqualTheFuture.”

Recently on Instagram, Trace Cyrus posted a photo of himself with his father and wrote in a long post, “Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly, the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down, and itās become obvious to everyone but you.”
He continued, “You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years, but youāve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately wants you to be a part of her life, and you havenāt even been there for her. Thatās your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow, just like me, she still idolizes you though. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. Youāre not healthy, Dad & everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at Mamaw’s funeral when you didnāt expect me to, Iām still here right now.”
He concluded, “As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you, Dad. We havenāt talked in a while, but Iām over a year and a half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing. I donāt know what youāre struggling with exactly, but I think I have a pretty good idea & Iād love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes, I will continue to pray for you. billyraycyrus.”
