Shania Twain: ‘It’s Humbling And Rewarding’ Inspiring Other Artists
Today’s biggest music stars can’t get enough of Shania Twain. From Taylor Swift to Harry Styles, Kelsea Ballerini, and Sabrina Carpenter, these artists look up to her as their inspiration.
Shania said to People in a new interview, “It’s humbling and rewarding when younger music stars say I inspired them. It is very moving, and I relate to what they say when they talk about me and how they’re feeling and how they express it to me personally.”
Twain went on to say that she relates to it in the sense that “I felt that way when I was younger” about other artists that had already been where she was headed, or where she was dreaming about being and what she was “aspiring to become,” and how she felt in her heart and mind of what “I would say if I had ever had the chance to meet them.”
She added, “So I can imagine that is what they’re feeling in those moments.”
In a viral 2021 TikTok, Swift talked about Shania paving the way from country to pop. At Coachella 2022, an excited Harry Styles brought the music legend on stage, making fans go wild.

Twain’s success shows in the numbers, selling 100 million records worldwide. Her game-changing album, Come On Over, sold 40 million copies, breaking records for what country artists could do.
Up-and-coming stars keep showing their love in different ways. Carpenter sang her hits during her shows and teamed up with her for a Netflix holiday special. Meanwhile, Ballerini honors her through both music and fashion, copying Shania’s famous looks at award shows.
Before hitting it big, Twain performed in small clubs to support her family. When producer Norro Wilson noticed her talent, it got her first record deal. Her career took off after meeting Robert John “Mutt” Lange, who helped create her album, The Woman in Me.
She broke down walls for women in country music, showing it was okay to mix different styles. Radio stations had to change their rules because of how well she did across genres. Her mark on music today runs deep. Every time a new artist blends styles or tests limits, they’re following a trail that she blazed years ago.
