Kameron Marlowe: ‘Sad Songs For the Soul’ Set to Redefine ‘Sad Boy Country’ Genre in 2025
Sony Music Nashville put out “Sad Songs For the Soul,” the new album by Kameron Marlowe, on February 21, 2025.
His latest 12-song album shows a move toward more bare-bones, heartfelt music. After signing with the label in 2020, Marlowe wrote these honest, personal songs with simple production.
Country legend Vince Gill teams up with Marlowe on the moving duet “How’s the Leaving Going.” The album includes “The Basement,” which digs into life’s hardships, plus his version of Cam’s hit song “Burning House.”
The small-town North Carolina native got his start singing in church choirs and local bands. After getting noticed on “The Voice,” he moved to Nashville to follow his songwriting passion.
His 2019 hit single “Giving You Up” took off online with millions of streams. This led to his self-titled EP the following year, sending “Burn ‘Em All” into Billboard’s Hot Country Top 40.
He’s opened shows for country stars Brad Paisley, Riley Green, and Morgan Wallen. He’ll soon tour with Parker McCollum before starting his own tour on March 7, 2025.
The album mixes in traditional country sounds throughout – flowing strings and fiddle bring “Dear God” to life, while “Friend of Mine” captures classic Western spirit. It smoothly combines country’s roots with modern style.
Coming after “We Were Cowboys” and “Keepin’ the Lights On,” these new songs tell real stories about heartbreak and life’s challenges.
