Lainey Wilson Writes Foreword for New Children’s Book on Grand Ole Opry
The foreword to “Howdy: Welcome to the Grand Ole Opry,” a new children’s book coming out September 16, 2025, was written by Country star Lainey Wilson.
The book was written by Opry historian Emily Frans, with artwork by Susannah Chapman. The story follows a young musician and gives kids a behind-the-scenes look at Nashville’s legendary music venue.
People magazine revealed Wilson’s involvement and shared previews of the book on February 21, 2025. Kids will read about iconic performers like Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash alongside newer stars Scotty McCreery and Kelsea Ballerini.
“When I see Lainey on the Opry stage, I know without a doubt I’m looking at an important part of the Opry’s future,” said Dan Rogers to MusicRow.
Wilson became an Opry member in June 2024 after getting a surprise invite from Reba McEntire during “The Voice.” Country legends Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were there to welcome her during the ceremony.
“We are honored to be here tonight. There can never be too many women at the Grand Ole Opry,” said Yearwood during the ceremony.
During her induction, Wilson brought her family on stage. “I want my family to be up here because this is theirs too. They have worked so hard for me to have opportunities,” she shared.
Kids will get to explore the backstage excitement – from busy dressing rooms to musicians warming up. In her foreword, Wilson talks about her first time visiting at age nine and later performing there on Valentine’s Day 2020.
This iconic music venue has been shaping country music since 1925. The book will be available at Amazon and local bookstores.
