Parker McCollum Aspires to Catch Up to George Strait’s No. 1 Hit Record
Rising Texas star Parker McCollum has landed four No. 1 singles since his hit “Pretty Heart” came out in 2020. Meanwhile, country legend George Strait sits at the top with an incredible 60 No. 1 hits over four decades.
“I always knew George had 60,” said McCollum to CMT during an interview on Instagram. “Now that we have four, I’m only 56 behind him,” he joked.
McCollum’s newest hit “Burn It Down” just reached No. 1 from his 2023 album “Never Enough.” He started playing in small clubs at age 16 before landing a major record deal in 2019. His career took off with the albums “Gold Chain Cowboy” and “Never Enough.”
Fans show up in huge numbers to see the Texas native perform. His first RODEOHOUSTON show in 2022 pulled in 73,000 people, earning him a spot to open the 2023 season.
The music world has taken notice. He grabbed an ACM Award for New Male Artist and won the fan-voted “Breakthrough Video of the Year” in 2022. Music magazines everywhere are talking about his quick rise to fame.
He sells out famous venues like the Ryman and Billy Bob’s Texas, where he played three nights in a row. Now touring with his Burn It Down Tour, he’s hitting cities from Washington to his home state through August.
He recently kicked off Austin City Limits’ 2023 season and made his first Grand Ole Opry appearance in 2021 – both huge milestones for any country artist.
With concerts scheduled through 2025, this rising star looks set to keep racking up hits and making his mark in country music.
