Kelsea Ballerini Joins Contestant Angie Rey for ‘Penthouse’ Duet on ‘The Voice’ Premiere
The popular singing show “The Voice” began its 27th season on February 3, 2025. New energy came as country star Kelsea Ballerini joined returning coaches Adam Levine, John Legend, and Michael Bublé.
After sitting out ten seasons over five years, Levine is back in his red chair for season 17. Legend comes back from a short break for his tenth run, while Bublé stays on hoping to discover the next singing sensation.
Like clockwork, Carson Daly continues his run as host for the 27th season straight. The first night started the Blind Auditions phase, kicking off several weeks of talent hunting.
The highlight came from Southern California singer Angie Rey, who wowed everyone with her powerful version of “Penthouse.” Her singing caught Ballerini’s attention, making the first-time coach turn while others stayed put.
Then something unexpected happened – Rey and Ballerini started singing together. The experienced performer hit some amazing notes that impressed her new coach.
Rey’s background includes performing in Nashville’s music scene. She’s performed with country stars Wynonna Judd and Tanya Tucker, appeared on “La Voz Kids,” and played shows all around Tampa Bay.
Following the show’s usual format, singers move from Blind Auditions to Battle Rounds. These competitions decide who stays on each coach’s team.
Coaches begin with empty teams, choosing singers just by their voices. They listen with their chairs turned away, making choices without seeing the performers – the unique twist that makes this show special.
The 2025 lineup brings exciting possibilities. Fans can watch how Ballerini’s country style works alongside Levine’s rock background, Legend’s R&B expertise, and Bublé’s smooth pop approach.
