Parker McCollum’s Accidental Hit: ‘What Kinda Man’ Soars from Spontaneous Session to Radio Sensation
Country music sensation Parker McCollum kicks off a 16-show tour next January to promote his upcoming fifth album.
His breakout hit “What Kinda Man” started as a casual recording at home. The original version, recorded in one take, was later refined with songwriters Jeremy Spillman and Natalie Hemby.
The song made its way to radio stations within three weeks of being finished – though it didn’t make it onto his 2023 album “Never Enough.”
His wife Hallie Ray chimed in: “Wait till you hear the new album. The Kid is 100% back.”
The fresh material looks to capture the essence of his debut album, “The Limestone Kid.” Critics have noted changes in his musical style through recent releases.
With the “What Kinda Man Tour,” McCollum continues his meteoric rise since 2015. Special guests will appear throughout the tour.
The song came together when he freestyled lyrics at home. A simple phone recording caught the moment that would turn into his latest radio hit.
Tour dates and ticket information will be announced soon. This represents his fifth major studio project in less than ten years.
